About Remove Your Ex
Remove Your Ex is a web app that takes one person out of your photos. You describe who should go, and you download the edit.
Why it exists
A breakup can leave a lot of good photos behind: the trip, the birthday, the view, you on a good day. Remove Your Ex is for people who want those photos back without one person in them, after a breakup, a falling-out, or any time someone spoils an otherwise good picture. You don’t need to be a photo editor or learn a new tool.
We think of it as reclaiming your photos. It’s about keeping the parts that are still yours, not about the person who’s leaving the frame.
How an edit is made
- You describe who goes in your own words, like “the person on the left in the red shirt”. There’s no brush or mask to draw.
- Each photo and your instruction are sent to Google Gemini through Vertex AI, which makes the edit.
- An automatic person check runs on each edit. If the person is still there, we make one more attempt.
- If an edit fails, the credit goes back to your account automatically.
- Every photo includes a free second edit, so you can try again with a clearer description.
What happens to your photos
- Your originals and edits are stored privately for up to 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- You can delete them sooner from My photos.
- Deleted copies can stay in restricted recovery systems for up to 7 days before they expire.
- Google may keep photos and instructions sent to Gemini for up to 30 days to detect abuse, and doesn’t use them to train its models.
- We never use your photos for advertising or analytics.
The Privacy Policy has the full details.
What we won’t do
- Mock the person you remove. They’re leaving the photo, and that’s all.
- Promise a perfect first edit. Some photos take a second try, which is why it’s free.
- Use your photos for anything but your edit.
