Privacy Policy

Remove Your Ex is operated by Logan Jorgensen (“we”, “us”), who is responsible for the personal information described in this policy.

Remove Your Ex is not offered in the EU/EEA, the UK, or Switzerland. We don’t accept sign-ups or purchases from those countries, and purchases with a billing address there are refunded without adding credits.

1. Information we collect

When you use Remove Your Ex, we collect the following information:

  • Account and authentication information: Email addresses, authentication credentials, and profile information handled through Firebase Authentication and any enabled social sign-in providers.
  • Photos and processing information: Original photos, removal instructions, generated results, filenames, formats, sizes, and related processing metadata.
  • Payment and purchase information: Payment details processed by Stripe, plus transaction references and credit-fulfillment records stored by our application. Remove Your Ex does not receive or store full card numbers.
  • Operational data: Request timestamps, IP or network, user-agent, and referring-site information present in service logs, error diagnostics, and records related to accounts, credits, uploads, processing jobs, and purchases.
  • Result reports: If you tell us a result still shows the person you asked us to remove, we record which photo and result you reported, your removal instruction, and whether a credit was returned.

2. How we use your information

  • To provide, store, process, and deliver the results you request.
  • To authenticate you and manage your account and credits.
  • To process and verify payments and fulfill purchased credits.
  • To secure the service, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot failures.
  • To check that each result removed the person you described, and to review results you report to us.
  • To send service-related communications.

3. Photo storage and processing

  • Active original photos and generated results are stored privately in Google Cloud’s US Central region.
  • Each photo and removal instruction is sent to Google Gemini through Vertex AI to create the requested result.
  • Vertex AI uses Google’s global endpoint, so processing is not limited to the storage region.
  • Each generated result is checked automatically on our own servers by an image-recognition model that counts the people in the original photo and in the result. This check does not send your photo to any additional third party.
  • We do not collect face geometry, face templates, or other biometric identifiers. Our person-detection model only draws boxes around the people in a photo so we can count them. It does not measure faces, recognize anyone, or keep anything that could identify a person.
  • If you report a result, we are notified and a member of our team may view the original photo and the result to investigate. We do not make copies of your photos for this review.
  • Originals and generated results remain in active storage for up to 90 days from creation and are then automatically deleted. You can delete them sooner from your account.
  • Incomplete pending uploads and their records are deleted automatically within about two days.

We do not use your photos for advertising, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to providing the service you requested.

4. People in your photos

Photos you upload may show people who do not use Remove Your Ex. We process those images and your description of the person only to produce the edit you request, keep them under the same retention periods, and never use them to identify anyone. Our automated check counts people in a photo; it does not recognize faces or identify individuals. If you appear in a photo processed through the Service, you can email us to request deletion, or report misuse.

5. Third-party services

  • Google Cloud and Firebase: Provide authentication, hosting, database services, private image storage, task processing, logging, and Gemini image generation through Vertex AI. They receive account information, photos and removal instructions, generated results, processing metadata, and operational data as needed to provide those services. If Google’s automated safety systems flag a request, Google may keep the photo and instructions sent to Gemini for up to 90 days to check for abuse under Google Cloud’s terms. Google does not use them to train its models.
  • Google Analytics: Measures how visitors use the website: pages viewed, the site or campaign that referred you, approximate location and device type, and steps such as signing up, starting checkout, completing a purchase, and starting or finishing an edit. It never receives your photos, removal descriptions, file names, email address, or payment details. Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.
  • Umami (self-hosted analytics): We run our own copy of Umami, an open-source analytics tool, at stats.wagiedex.com on a server we control. It counts pages viewed, the referring site or campaign, approximate country, device and browser type, and steps such as clicking a link that invites you to try the editor, signing up, starting checkout, completing a purchase, and starting or finishing an edit. It is cookieless: it sets no cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not store your IP address. It never receives your photos, removal descriptions, file names, email address, account ID, or payment details, and the data is not shared with any third party.
  • Stripe: Provides checkout and payment processing and, through Link, resells credit purchases and calculates and collects applicable sales tax, VAT, or GST. Stripe receives the payment, billing location, and transaction information needed to complete purchases. Stripe, not Remove Your Ex, handles full card details. Stripe may retain transaction data under its own privacy policy and legal obligations.

6. Data retention and deletion

We apply the following retention periods and deletion practices:

  • Active original photos and generated results are retained for up to 90 days from creation unless you delete them sooner.
  • Incomplete pending uploads and their records are deleted automatically within about two days.
  • Operational request and error logs are retained for up to 30 days.
  • Result reports are kept for up to 90 days, and sooner deleted when you delete the reported photo or your account.
  • Account and application metadata is retained while your account is active.
  • Checkout records linked to your account are kept while your account is active so refunds and disputes can be matched to your credits, and are deleted when you delete your account.
  • Account deletion removes active images and results, account-linked checkout request and session records, your application account and profile, and your Firebase sign-in identity through our automated deletion workflow.
  • Limited hash-only Stripe event and fulfillment records that are not directly linked to your account may remain in our application database to prevent duplicate fulfillment and reconcile payments.
  • Deleted Cloud Storage objects, Firestore historical versions, and daily database backups may remain in restricted recovery systems for up to seven days before automatic expiry.
  • Stripe may independently retain its own payment transaction records.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session. These do not track you across other websites.

Umami: Our self-hosted Umami analytics (stats.wagiedex.com) is cookieless and does not use local storage to identify you, so it sets no tracking cookies.

Analytics: We use Google Analytics cookies to understand how visitors find and use the website. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default and Google Analytics receives only cookieless measurements. Analytics never receives your photos, removal descriptions, email address, or payment details. You can block these cookies in your browser or with Google’s opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) without affecting the service.

8. Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure authentication, and encrypted payment processing. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

9. Children’s privacy

Remove Your Ex is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Your rights

You can view and delete your photos and results, and delete your account, from your account page at any time. You can also email us to request access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you, and we will respond within 30 days. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your information to provide the Service you request and for our legitimate interest in keeping it secure, and your information is processed in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date.
